I Miss (the old) Me
I wish I were as fat as the first time I thought I was fat.
I wish I had never taken being involved in sports for granted.
I wish I didn’t have to request a seatbelt extender on an airplane – or hope a child sits next to me.
I wish I didn’t have eyes on me at all times when eating in public.
I wish I could wear kitten heels without my feet killing me after 20 minutes.
I wish I would be judged professionally based on my knowledge and abilities rather than on my appearance.
I wish I could wear clothing that didn’t make me look 20 years older than I am.
I wish I could ride a roller coaster once again.
I wish I could feel relaxed after a glass of wine, not a bottle.
I wish I could face high school classmates without dread and shame.
I wish I would smile rather than cringe when I see myself in a photo.
But wishing won’t change anything. Stay tuned.
